Towns of the bank of the Seine

Boulogne-Billancourt
The second largest built-up area after Paris, Boulogne-Billancourt has redeveloped its territory over the past few years. Renovated shopping areas and luxury residences rub shoulders with houses built in the 1950’s with small gardens. Property in Boulogne is eclectic and caters to a wide range of demand. Sometimes called the “Green 16th district” with reference to the 16th district in Paris which is close by, Boulogne Billancourt offers a comfortable way of life, snuggled in an elbow of the Seine river, adjoining Paris and the bois de Boulogne.

Issy-les-Moulineaux
Issy « the bold », as the official website of the town proclaims, has won its bet of becoming one of the most dynamic towns in the Hauts-de-Seine in demographic and economic terms. The price by square meter is lower than in Boulogne-Billancourt, with reasonable local rates and Issy-les-Moulineaux offers more jobs than it has inhabitants. its objective is to become the “new technology town”.
Coming from Paris, the first island you encounter is l’île Saint Germain. An exceptional site with town houses overlooking the river and calm streets that invite you to stroll. L’île Saint Germain, part of the commune of Issy-les-Moulineaux, benefits from this dynamic town focused on new technologies. The inhabitant of l’île Saint Germain is a favoured person who enjoys the pleasures of life. A guaranteed quality of life with barges and a peaceful river setting.

Sèvres
With its Manufacture Royale famous beyond France’s frontiers, Sèvres was home to Honoré de Balzac, Léon Gambetta or Samuel William Reynolds. Sèvres offers a habitat of town houses dotted over its hills, up to the walls of the Saint Cloud park. Sèvres is a quiet town at the gates of Paris, easily accessible via a direct tramway to La Défense or Paris, the Paris circular, the N118 and the quays of the Seine.

St-Cloud
The old town of Saint-Cloud rises up a hill overlooking the Seine river. The belfry and the surrounding houses were built in the Middle Ages. During the 19th century, the town was extended, and superb villas with gardens behind high walls were built, overlooking the river. St Cloud prides itself for its beautiful park that extends all the way to Versailles, Marne La Coquette and Ville d’Avray, offering the local inhabitants an ideal venue for jogging and Sunday strolls.

Suresnes
Suresnes faces the Seine and the Bois de Boulogne. A town built on a hillside, it has succeeded in preserving a balance between town houses, bungalows with gardens and small residential buildings. Many of these properties benefit from a good view.
Although at the gates of Paris, through traffic is relatively limited because Suresnes is protected by the Seine and traffic is channelled through the bridges.

La Défense
La Défense is the leading European business centre. its history begins in the 1950’s, when Paris takes up the idea of a triumphant axis from place de la Concorde to La Défense, favoured by the IIIrd Republic. Nicknamed the 21st district of Paris, La Défense offers a resolutely modern architectural style : housing and gardens are organized along geometrical lines of great purity. On either side of La Défense, the towns of Courbevoie and Puteaux have conserved their building styles, with town houses, gardens or small residential blocks of new flats.

Neuilly-sur-Seine
Neuilly-sur-Seine is generally called simply Neuilly. Crown jewel of the Hauts-de-Seine department, located on the straight axis between the Louvre and the Grande Arche de la Défense, Neuilly is a very chic, very bourgeois town. Originally, Neuilly was a small port on the Seine river; during the 18th century, Parmentier, a former German POW who was fed an exclusive diet of potatoes during his captivity, decided to introduce this vegetable into France and began to grow it in the Les Sablons plain. Today, Neuilly is famous for other attributes : a town of exceptional architectural quality, 19th century town houses, private hotels and plush modern apartments compete on the comfort stakes.

Jatte Island (Neuilly sur Seine)
This island was brought to fame by Seurat’s painting in 1886, which revealed a beautiful spot for Sunday strolls. The origin of the name (initially called "île de la grande-jatte") seems to stem from its oblong shape, resembling a boat which miners used to call “jatte”. Today, it is one of the favourite residential areas in the Hauts-de-Seine, with its apartments of town houses a stone’s throw away from Paris and La Défense. With its select environments, the island is the home of many prominent personalities.

Levallois-Perret
Levallois was formed during the 19th century by bringing together 4 villages taken from Neuilly and Clichy. From the beginning Levallois distinguished itself : the town was elected by Gustave Eiffel to build his tower, using an area of 11.000 sq meters and attracted many inventors throughout the century. Today, life in Levallois is peaceful and town houses alternate with small residential buildings, as well as newly refurbished neighbourhoods, especially near the river.

The parks of Hauts-de-Seine

One of the advantages of the quality of life in the Hauts-de-Seine in the large number of green areas, a stone’s throw away from the capital.
The Bois de Boulogne, between Paris and the Seine river, flanked by Neuilly and Boulogne-Billancourt, offers a beautiful view for side dwellers.
The Parc de Saint Cloud, stretching from the Seine to Marnes-la-Coquette, is a popular Sunday afternoon recreational area.
To the South of Hauts-de-Seine, the forest of Meudon is a pleasant place for a family stroll.
Parks with a prestigious history dot the South of Hauts-de-Seine : the parc de Seaux, which Anthony shares with the town of Sceaux, transformed by Colbert during the 17th century into a prestigious domain, the parc de la Vallée aux Loups in Châtenay-Malabry where Chateaubriand wrote his “Mémoires d’Outre Tombe” and the famous rose-garden in Fontenay-aux-Roses all display rare plants and educational facilities.

The west of Hauts-de-Seine

(Chaville, Sèvres, Ville d'Avray, Marnes-la-Coquette, Garches, Vaucresson, Rueil-Malmaison)
The Western sector of Hauts-de-Seine offers the very stylish way of life that has characterized it since the turn of the century : 19th century villas behind high walls and small town houses with miniature gardens, but also luxury residences in a more modern style. The village of Marnes-La-Coquette, accessible on foot through the Parc de Saint Cloud, located in a green area, has preserved its properties bordering the park and its charming town houses.

The south of Hauts-de-Seine

(Anthony, Châtenay-Malabry, Sceaux, Bourg-la-Reine, Fontenay-aux-roses, Clamart, Meudon)
In the South of the Hauts-de-Seine, one is already in the suburbs.
Property for sale comprises mostly town houses or small residences. The prices per square meter remain attractive, far lower than those of the towns bordering the Seine and the environment is calm.
Access by RER, train and with motorways going directly into Paris, while the outskirts are easily accessible.
